Fourteen Dollars for Autographs
I first heard that Vanessa was signing autographs on justjaredjr.com and on zaangels.com the Saturday before the autograph signing. I practically begged my mom to go, and being the amazing mom that she is, she agreed. But I think it had more to do with our living only one hour away from Universal Studios. Ha ha!
On Sunday, the 20th, my mom and I got to Universal Citywalk around 10:00, and my mom was complaining about the parking prices, but what was fourteen dollars to getting my meet one of my favorite celebrities? Fourteen bucks would be worth it in the long run. We got to the store a few minutes later, and there was literally less than 100 people for three hours. I was expecting this huge line, but it was relatively short.
When it was almost time to get started, they gave us wristbands and brought us into the store fifteen at a time. My heart was beating like 100 beats per second, and my adrenaline was pumping. I’m surprised I didn’t have a heart attack when I first saw her. It is seriously wayyyyy different than seeing them on-screen.
Security was rushing us, so we didn’t really get to take pictures at first. I was so awe-struck the first time I saw her, that all I could say was, “I’m doing good.” and spelled my name out for her. When I looked back, I saw that a girl asked for a hug, and I was soooo bummed that I didn’t think of it before.
But my mom was able to ask Vanessa questions about being a Filipina. My mom said “Hi” in Filipino, and Vanessa answered back! And my mom asked her if she ate lumpia and adobo (Filipino food), and she said, “Yeah. And pansit and halo halo.”
The girl in front of us was crying, and Vanessa was so nice to her. It was nice to know that she was so sweet and down to earth and a lot like other Filipinas.
After, my brilliant and clever mom saw how sad I was about not getting a hug and told me that we should go back a second time because there was definitely less than 300 people, and it wasn’t like Vanessa would remember us. So we got in line for the second time and went back. This time, I was more…composed. When we got up to the line, I got to say, “Happy belated birthday!”
And she said, “Thank you.”
I was so confident after, that I even dared to ask for a hug. Which I happily got. I got to hug the person who hugs Zac! I got a picture with her too! Afterwards, my mom wanted to go shopping in the store for some shoes, and I was able to talk with some of the staff and security and was able to be within ten feet of Vanessa.
In the end, I was able to get four autographs for me, my cousin, my best friend, and my mom’s class. My mom is seriously the coolest mom!! It was the best day ever! And I got my money’s worth. Fourteen dollars for four autographs, some pics, and a hug!
