Rosario Dawson on Vanessa as ‘Mimi’
As August quickly approaches, so does Vanessa Hudgens’ debut as Mimi Marquez in the Hollywood Bowl production of ‘Rent.’ Rosario Dawson, who played Mimi in the 2005 film version of the hit musical, has complete faith in the younger actress, she says in an interview. “She’s feisty, she’s fun, and I’ve been encouraging her to let that part of her come out because it’s a dynamic role,” Rosario told Katie Krause on June 16.
The high praise adds even more excitement to the news surrounding the show: Neil Patrick Harris, director, has announced further casting choices. Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger will play bisexual entertainer Maureen Johnson, with Whose Line Is It Anyway’s Wayne Brady playing HIV-infected, gay academic Tom Collins.
