Vanessa Hudgens has been set to star alongside Nicolas Cage and John Cusack in Frozen Ground, the Emmett/Furla Films thriller. The film, which will begin shooting October 17 in Anchorage, Alaska, marks the feature directing debut of Scott Walker, who wrote the script.

Pic is based on true events surrounding Alaska’s most notorious serial predator, Robert Hansen. Cusack is playing Hansen, regarded in the community as a respected family man. In the span of 12 years, he abducted more than 24 women, flew them into the Alaskan wilderness, and hunted and murdered them. Hudgens will play the one teenage victim who escaped. When she returned to tell her story, nobody believed her. Cage will play the Alaskan State Trooper who finds her on the street. Together they work to bring Hansen to justice.

After getting her butterfly tattoo earlier this year, photos were revealed today of Vanessa and BFF Ashley Tisdale getting new tattoos at East Side Ink from famed tattoo artist ‘Bang Bang‘. According to Celebuzz, “Vanessa’s new tattoo is the symbol for “OM,” which she got on the back of each hand ”. In other very exciting news, E! Online revealed today:

Vanessa Hudgens is adding designer to her résumé. The stylish actress and singer tells me she’s already working on her very own clothing line. ”I’m in the process,” she told me last night while hosting PopChips’ Playland party for Fashion’s Night Out. “We’re still figuring it out, but it’s definitely in the works!”

So what will her collection feature? ”Street chic, bohemian and wearable,” she dished.

We’re so excited and can’t wait to see what pieces she creates!

CAA has signed Vanessa Hudgens, who graduated from the High School Musical films to star in the features Bandslam, the Zack Snyder-directed Sucker Punch and the CBS Films fairy tale Beastly. She just finished shooting Journey 2: The Mysterious Island for New Line. She separately played Mimi in the Hollywood Bowl production of Rent and has released two albums. She had been with WME and continues to be managed by Untitled.

ComingSoon.net were lucky enough to get a visit to the Beastly set, when the movie was being shot. They interviewed a multitude of different actors from the movie including Vanessa! She spoke about finding roles and her new movies Beastly and Sucker Punch.

On picking Beastly:

It was just a script that was in the pile, you know, and I read it, and I thought that it was really interesting. I had a meeting with them, and I remember running in, and I was late and I felt horrible, and we just had a great conversation. It was me, Susan the producer and Daniel the director, and we just sat and talked about the project. Just hearing Daniel’s ambitions, what he wanted to do, how he wanted to shoot it, how he wanted to develop the characters. It just seemed like the right next choice.

On Sucker Punch:

The kids aren’t going to be able to watch “Sucker Punch,” that’s for sure, but I’m excited. I feel like I’m hopefully going to be able to branch out and reach out to some new people.

Production is underway on the new movie ‘Journey 2: The Mysterious Island‘. Vanessa stars alongside Josh Hutcherson, Dwayne Johnson and Michael Caine in the 3D adventure which is currently shooting in Oahu, Hawaii.

Josh Hutcherson will reprise his role as young adventurer Sean Anderson in this exciting follow-up to the 2008 worldwide hit “Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D,” the first live-action film ever to be shot in digital 3D. Vanessa Hudgens and Luis Guzman star as a father-daughter tour guide team. “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” is being directed by Brad Peyton.

Beginning in January 2011, production will move to Wilmington, North Carolina and is scheduled to wrap principal photography in February 2011.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vanessa could be playing the lead role in “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island“. The site says:

Vanessa Hudgens is in final negotiations to play the female lead in New Line’s “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island,” the sequel to “Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D.”

Brad Peyton is on board to direct the film, in which Josh Hutcherson is reprising his role as burgeoning explorer Sean Anderson. Dwayne Johnson is also starring in the pic being produced by Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson of Contrafilm.

Hudgens plays a Pacific Islander who gets swept into the adventure and end up falling for Hutcherson.

Production is eyeing a late October start in North Carolina and Hawaii.

Always one to help those in need, Vanessa and BFF Brittany Snow made a young girl’s wish come true last month. According to the site:

Actress Vanessa Hudgens flew to Las Vegas on behalf of the Nevada Make-a-Wish Foundation Thursday to fulfill a “rush” wish for a terminally ill child. Hudgens, who starred in “High School Musical,” and her friend, actress Brittany Snow, went to Sunrise Hospital to meet with 9-year-old Lexi D. of Las Vegas who was hospitalized and suffering from a rare brain abnormality.
