Vanessa Hudgens has been set to star alongside Nicolas Cage and John Cusack in Frozen Ground, the Emmett/Furla Films thriller. The film, which will begin shooting October 17 in Anchorage, Alaska, marks the feature directing debut of Scott Walker, who wrote the script.

Pic is based on true events surrounding Alaska’s most notorious serial predator, Robert Hansen. Cusack is playing Hansen, regarded in the community as a respected family man. In the span of 12 years, he abducted more than 24 women, flew them into the Alaskan wilderness, and hunted and murdered them. Hudgens will play the one teenage victim who escaped. When she returned to tell her story, nobody believed her. Cage will play the Alaskan State Trooper who finds her on the street. Together they work to bring Hansen to justice.

Check out the music video for ‘Be Mine‘ by Kristina and the Dolls above. The track was featured in Vanessa’s latest movie Beastly and the band have included tonnes of clips from the film in their music video!

Sucker Punch will be released onto DVD, Blu-Ray and Instant View Formats in the US on Tuesday June 28th (the same day as Beastly!). The movie, which features Vanessa amongst an ensemble cast of female actresses, will be rated R and feature a behind-the-scenes look at the soundtrack as well as an animated shorts gallery of the 4 fantasy realms.

Vanessa Hudgens is in final negotiations to star in Gimme Shelter, an indie drama that will also star Brendan Fraser. Ron Krauss is writing and directing the pic, which is eyeing an end of May start in Connecticut.

The script centers on a pregnant, homeless teen, to be played by Hudgens, who flees her abusive mother and seeks out her biological father. He first takes her in but then throws her out when she refuses to abort her child. Fraser is the girl’s dad, who fathered her as a result of a youthful fling.

As previously posted, Vanessa attended the premiere of Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure in Los Angeles last night (April 7th) in support of BFF and star of the movie Ashley Tisdale. Dressed in an ensemble from Planet Blue, she posed on the red carpet and partook in a few interviews with the press.
